Oahu, Hawaii, is a breathtakingly beautiful island home to some of the world’s most iconic beaches, landscapes, and landmarks. Located in the heart of the Hawaiian archipelago, Oahu is the third-largest of the Hawaiian Islands, with an area of 596.7 square miles and over 900,000 residents. We were lucky enough to visit in 2023 and had the most enjoyable family vacation. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaii Village and opted for a family suite in the Tapa Tower, and it was the perfect living space for our little family. Although, it’s a more extensive resort than we usually like to stay at, the food options made up for it.
Oahu is a perfect destination for people seeking an unforgettable Hawaiian vacation, with plenty of activities to engage in and sights to see. From hiking to water sports to cultural experiences, Oahu has it all. Here are some of the highlights of this fantastic island:
Waikiki Beach: Arguably the most famous beach in Hawaii, Waikiki Beach is a must-visit destination on Oahu. The golden sand and crystal-clear waters make it a perfect spot for swimming, sunbathing, and surfing. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops along the beach, making it a lively and exciting location to visit.

Diamond Head: This famous volcanic cone symbolizes Oahu and is one of its most popular hiking destinations. The hike to the top of Diamond Head is a strenuous climb, but the views from the summit are worth it.
Pearl Harbor: For history buffs, Pearl Harbor is a must-visit destination. This site was the location of the Japanese attack that propelled the United States into World War II. The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center offers a sobering and educational experience, with exhibits and memorials paying tribute to the lives lost on December 7, 1941.

North Shore: The North Shore of Oahu is famous for its enormous waves, making it a surfer’s paradise. But even if you’re not a surfer, the North Shore has plenty to offer, including gorgeous beaches, charming towns, and fantastic seafood. Make sure to check out my blog about exploring the North Shore. <link>

Hanauma Bay: This nature preserve is a perfect spot for snorkeling and observing the colorful marine life of Hawaii. The bay’s calm waters and abundant fish make it an excellent destination for families and anyone interested in the underwater world.

In addition to these highlights, Oahu is home to many other amazing sights and experiences. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing beach vacation, an outdoor adventure, or a cultural journey, Oahu will satisfy your cravings. With its stunning natural beauty and warm, welcoming spirit, Oahu is a true paradise that should be on everyone’s bucket list.
