Mount Wellington, also known as Kunanyi, is a 1,271-meter (4,167 ft) high mountain located in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It is a popular destination and offers panoramic views of the city, the Derwent River, and the surrounding countryside. When we decided to include Tasmania in our travel plans, we knew we wanted to check out Mount Wellington.

The mountain is home to a number of hiking trails, ranging from easy walks to challenging treks. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of the mountain, including its alpine vegetation, rainforest, and rock formations. The summit of Mount Wellington can be reached by car, with a road winding its way to the top.

At the summit, there is a visitor center, a café, and several lookout points, providing visitors with breathtaking views of the city and its surroundings. In the winter months, the mountain is also a popular spot for skiing and snowboarding, with several ski runs and a ski lift available.

In addition to its natural beauty, Mount Wellington also has a rich cultural and historical significance. The mountain is considered sacred by the Indigenous people of Tasmania, who have lived in the area for thousands of years.
