Moreton Island is a sand island located in Queensland, Australia. It is a popular destination for camping, swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the island’s natural beauty. We wanted to experience at least one of the sand islands in Australia, which was a unique experience. We did a full-day excursion, the perfect time on the island. Some of the top attractions include:

Tangalooma Wrecks: the wrecks consist of 15 intentionally sunk shipwrecks to create a snorkeling and diving spot. We even had the opportunity to swim with lemon sharks.

Blue Lagoon: a natural saltwater pool.

Cape Moreton Lighthouse: a historic lighthouse offering views of the island and the ocean.

The Desert: a unique sand dune formation.

Visitors can also participate in sandboarding, quad biking, dolphin feeding, and whale watching when it’s in season.

Moreton Island National Park: offers opportunities for bushwalking, wildlife watching and scenic views.

While visiting the land down under, I recommend taking in at least one of the sand islands while taking in the Australian travel experience. Have you visited Moreton Island? If so, let me know your favourite things about the island below.
